We are excited to announce the breeding of Ice to Luna (using frozen semen).   This line-breeds on our foundation, and we hope to reinforce the qualities we loved in our foundation bitch "Sierra:"  biddable, willing and eager to learn, easy to train, talent and ability to succeed in any venue we trained for, healthy and long-lived, a fun personality and a delightful, loyal companion.

We anticipate these puppies will be excellent prospects for hunting retrievers, hunt test competitors and performance competition dogs.    They are expected to be active and moderate energy, with good ON/OFF switches, provided they receive daily physical and mental exercise.  They should have high retrieve drive, strong work ethic, intelligence, and desire to train and work.  They should be athletic dogs with sound structure, moderate bone, and moderate height and weight.  Coats are expected to be easy-care practical working coats; mostly likely medium to light golden in color.

Ice was a  wonderful combination of a fun dog to train, successful in competition, and also a joy to live with.  He was intelligent, willing and eager to learn.  Ice had a wicked sense of humor, at home and in the obedience ring; loving to get people to laugh with him.   Ice enjoyed a successful obedience career earning 19 High in Trial awards along the journey to his AKC Obedience Trial Championship and GRCA Obedience Hall of Fame.   He enjoyed showing, thinking it was all a grand party!   He was a natural at tracking, and was ready to enter TDX tests at the time of his passing.  Ice's favorite venue was the field, where he earned his AKC Master Hunter title, qualified for a Master National, and his UKC Hunting Retriever Championship.  Above all else, Ice loved hunting duck and geese on the Katy Prairie with Doug.  For 6 years Ice was Doug's main hunting dog.

At 23 inches height, and 60 lb, Ice was a moderate and athletic dog.  He carried a practical, correctly-textured working coat.  Dark pigment.  Full dentition with a slightly level bite.

Ice's two littermates were equally talented.  Aid'N was an urban search and rescue dog on FEMA's Texas Task Force One team.  Ruby enjoyed success in obedience, tracking, and hunt tests, and still rules our dog pack at home, at 13 years old.

Ice has been bred twice, and produced handsome pups some of whom are titled in hunt tests and tracking, and training also in obedience, agility, and other canine sports.    One is a diabetic alert dog who has saved his young mistress' life on more than one occaison.

Luna is a loving and affectionate companion at home, yet eager and ready to go when outdoors.  Strong natural retrieve drive, intelligent and trainable, confident, birdy.   She has a sweet disposition and gets along with everyone she meets, adult or children, humans, dogs, cats, etc.  She is moderate, structurally well balanced, and atheltic.  Luna is medium golden in color, with a correct texture working-type coat,  full dentition, and dark pigment.    Luna is just beginning her competition career and earned her AKC Junior Hunter title and GRCA Working Certificate in the spring of 2018.  She is training towards Senior level hunt tests, as well as starting competition obedience training.

Luna has talented half-siblings with AKC hunt test, scent work/nose work, and tracking titles.  Two are diabetic alert dogs, one an avalanche search/rescue dog, and one in training for USAR search/rescue work.  This is Luna's first breeding.

Luna whelped 4 girls and 2 boys on May 2.  Puppies will be ready to go home at 7 weeks age about June 20, 2019.

Our  Puppy Sales Policies

Puppies are sold ONLY to approved homes.    We breed for an active working/hunting retriever.   This litter may not be suitable for families seeking a calm, laid-back pet.

A non-refundable deposit is required at the time of whelping to reserve a puppy in the litter; we reserve the right to return any deposit and cancel any pending puppy sale.    We require a written sale contract for each puppy sold.   Pet puppies are required to be spay/neutered;  this is not negotiable.   Sale contracts for performance pups to be sold intact are negotiated on an individual basis.   At the present time, we prefer to not ship puppies; out-of-town buyers should be willing to travel here to meet us and pick up their puppy in person.

After your puppy goes home, we will be available to you to assist in whatever way we can as you raise your puppy.    We are happy to answer questions about puppy rearing and training.  If at any time, at any age, for any reason, you can no longer continue to care for your puppy, we require that you return the dog to us and we will take responsibility for finding it another good home.  We will always be here to help any dog of our breeding.   We do expect that our puppy buyers will keep the lines of communication open and keep in contact with us throughout the lifetime of the dog.
